The Team

Behind every safe, reliable healthcare shift is a team that cares just as deeply as the nurses and facilities we support. At AusNurse, our work is powered by people who believe in safer staffing, stronger governance, and exceptional care. Meet the leaders guiding our mission forward.

Dr. Rina Kumar PhD

Managing Director

Health systems strategist | Biomedical scientist | Governance lead

As Managing Director, she leads with a simple belief: strong governance creates safer care and better workplaces for nurses.

With a PhD in Biomedical Science, Dr. Kumar began her career researching the gut microbiome, infectious disease trends and metabolic health. She has worked in respected research and public health environments including the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and projects connected to the World Health Organization. These roles strengthened her understanding of population health, governance systems and the importance of safe, well-structured health services.

Today, she brings that global and evidence-based perspective to AusNurse.

Dr. Kumar oversees governance, compliance, quality and organisational systems, ensuring the agency operates with transparency, integrity and a deep commitment to safe staffing. Her leadership is guided by people first thinking. She focuses on protecting clients, supporting nurses and helping facilities deliver high quality care.

She is known for her calm and meticulous approach, her passion for improving systems and her ability to turn complex information into practical solutions. Her influence guides policy development, risk management, workforce planning and the strong operational standards that define AusNurse.

At her core, Dr. Kumar is a strategist and problem solver who is always looking for smarter and safer ways for AusNurse to support healthcare providers across Queensland. Her leadership keeps AusNurse compliant, ethical, future focused and aligned with national health priorities.

Outside of work, she enjoys balancing life with simplicity and joy. You will often find her in the gym, cooking, travelling, or happily doing nothing at all.
